The Branch would like to extend our sympathies to the family and friends of Katrina O'Flynn; the following piece was written by two of her close friends in the branch, Ruth Gillespie and Mary McNamara:

Katrina O’Flynn passed away suddenly last Monday the 1 of May 2017 and the branch would like to honour her tireless work as a Guidance Counsellor over the past 34 years.
Katrina was constantly full of energy and good humour and had a way of bringing light and joy into the room with her.  She always had a kind word for everybody and no matter how busy she was, she made the time to listen to students and staff alike.
Katrina cared deeply about her work as a Guidance Counsellor because Katrina had a depth of compassion, empathy and humanity that shone through in everything she did and had an impact on everyone she met.
Katrina was a steadfast guide and counsellor to the students with whom she worked, and always had their best interests at heart.  They mattered to her and so Mrs O’ Flynn mattered to them because she treated each student in her care with respect and supported them, in every way, to engage in their own future, their career and their lives.  Katrina was committed to supporting her students on to Third level.  She was fabulous at following up on past pupils, often keeping in contact with many of them, as they started on their journey to fulfil the potential that she saw in them and supported them to achieve.
People who knew Katrina speak of her with deep respect, love, and acknowledgement of her dedication to her job as a Guidance Counsellor, Teacher and indeed Friend.
Our heartfelt sympathies go out to her beloved family, her husband, Victor, her children, grandchildren, sons-in- law, brother and sisters.  The large attendance at her funeral is an acknowledgement of the mark of respect from colleagues, friends and the wider community.
Katrina will be sadly missed by all the students, parents and staff that she worked with over the years but her legacy lives on in the positive impact she made on all our lives.
